Find a Job

There are several things to consider when you find yourself back in the job market.

bigstockphoto_Resume_5383761First and foremost you want to get you resume up to date and, if you can afford it, you should consider a professionally prepared resume. The resume is your “first impression” and should not be taken lightly. A top notch resume a few years ago is likely outdated in today’s world of style and criteria so put a lot of emphasis and time into it and as previously mentioned go with a professionally crafted resume if possible. And the same goes for your cover letters. I mention “letters” as plural for a reason; you should use a different cover letter for each job you apply for so as to tailor it for that particular job description.

Next, is where to go look for available jobs? In today’s world the Internet is the best tool for job searching but you have literally thousands of choices of websites that offer job searching. But there are only a few dozens of “major” job sites and I cover most of them here.

So you have found a job opportunity and your first impression from your resume and cover letter has landed you an interview, congratulations. But now the bigstockphoto_Business_Meeting_-__People_-__286890real job of job hunting kicks in; The Interview! Realize that in today’s job market it is an “employers market”; the employer has one or maybe a few positions to fill and probably thousands of applicants but don’t worry, they will only interview fifteen or twenty… Prepare, prepare and prepare some more.
